Toys and Blankets for PetConnect Rescue

07/31/2019

On Thursday, July 18, 33 employees volunteered for Host’s service event supporting PetConnect Rescue in Potomac, MD, whose mission is to save the lives of abandoned dogs and cats and place them in loving and permanent homes. Employees were able to put their crafting skills to work making blankets and tug toys that dogs can use while waiting to be adopted. To make the toys, volunteers cut old t-shirts into long strips and braided them around donated tennis balls. Those who opted to make blankets lined two pieces of fleece material together and cut strips along the edges to tie together. Volunteers made a total of 22 blankets and 22 toys for rescue dogs.

During the event, employees also had the opportunity to play with six rescue dogs and learn more about the organization’s efforts from volunteers.
