As the premier lodging REIT and sustainability leader, we are committed to creating long-term value through investing responsibly in our business, environment, people and community. Our Corporate Responsibility program is centered around the concept of responsible investment—an overarching strategy that guides our focus and actions across our three main themes of Environmental Stewardship, Social Responsibility and Governance.

We believe that a disciplined and proactive approach to addressing critical ESG topics enables us to create long-term value for our stockholders, optimize our investment portfolio, maximize our human capital and maintain our position as a sustainability leader in the lodging REIT sector. Our management approach is driven by people, culture, policies, targets and performance monitoring to maximize the value from our investments of time, talent and financial resources. This approach directly supports Host’s business strategy and goals.

 

Environmental Stewardship

Environmental Stewardship

We are investing in solutions that conserve and restore natural capital to assist Host in mitigating climate change and biodiversity impacts, with the goal of achieving best-in-class returns.

Highlights

  • 8 LEED® certified properties, including two LEED Gold hotels.
  • ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System (EMS) for entire consolidated portfolio.
  • Third green bond issuance, raising an aggregate total of $1.85 billion to support acquisitions and investments in sustainability ROI projects and LEED-certified hotels.
  • 11 LEED projects in the pipeline, supporting green bond strategy.
  • Emissions reduction target verified by Science Based Targets initiative at the 1.5-degree Celsius level of ambition.
  • Internal price of carbon set at $100 per ton to reflect social costs of carbon and inform low carbon investments.
  • 100% of properties equipped with energy and water efficient technologies (including LED lighting and low flow fixtures).
  • Context-based water reduction focusing on top-10 properties with high water risk.

  • Holistic employee wellness program and personalized portal to track and improve physical, mental and financial health and well-being.
  • First lodging REIT to sign on to American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) 5-Star Promise to advance safety, non-discrimination and human rights within the hospitality industry.
  • $500,000, five-year pledge to support the AHLA Foundation’s Opening Doors to Opportunity campaign.
