Host completed a 112 kilowatt expansion of the Hyatt Regency Maui solar PV system in 2019, bringing the total onsite PV generation system size to 710 kilowatts. The upsized 2,142-panel system will produce over 1,074 megawatt-hours of electricity annually - thereby providing approximately 11% of the total resort electrical load. Additionally, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is Host’s latest LEED® property to receive LEED® Gold Certification. Some of the property’s featured sustainability initiatives include a food waste diversion program through which fruit and vegetable scraps are sorted and donated to local pig farms for feed and compost, high-efficiency shower heads in all guestrooms that reduce water consumption by over 30% and an Integrated Pest Management plan that outlines effective pest elimination using non-toxic methods. The property also features an on-site, self-guided sustainability tour to educate guests, visitors, and associates alike of these efforts.
